Ashram's Monthly Focus

Kodaikanal_6aAt the ashram, we maintain a spiritual tradition that is considerate and relevant to the present needs of humanity. Because of this, every month at the ashram has a different area of focus that is sensitive to the seasonal dispositions of that time of year, a structure that is adjusted to the general mental problems that are frequently arising amongst modern day humanity.

Here at the Tureya Ashram, we focus on the functions of the human mind. Without a clear mind spirituality as well as life in general is difficult to approach. We therefore train our students on how to calm the mind, equalize the state of the emotions, and harmonize the heart, mind, body, and spirit for a purposeful and spiritual lifestyle.

Our monthly topic of concentration can be found below. For instance, in the month of June the ashram is focusing on yoga for anxiety. This includes classes, lectures, and self-discipline that is relevant to removing anxiety from our daily lives. This topic has been chosen based upon the seasonal characteristics of the northern hemisphere, in which the summer season is present. The summer is known for heat and dryness, which leads to the same corresponding characteristics within the human being, i.e. more heat in the body and mind and less hydration for the internal functions of the body. Therefore, classes, diet, and practices will be guided towards cooling the body, releasing the mind from tension, and harmonizing the doshas (the dispositions of the mental and physical body).

The monthly topic are part of the general activities and do not interfere with the ashram’s regular schedule, therefore it is not necessary that you suffer from one of the emotional/mental problems mentioned in order to stay at the ashram.
