Ashram's Staff

General Staff

The ashram’s staff is a group of volunteers both in India and abroad who have contributed their time, energy, and ideas in maintaining the ashram, its resources, and its relationship with the world community at large.

Every member of the ashram staff and community support group (including our office volunteers, managing board, international sponsors and friends) has humbly submitted a piece of their lives to help in the generation of a spiritually centered community open to souls who are on the path towards spiritual awakening. We thank each of them for their efforts for they are the lifeline of the ashram’s existence.

Core Teachers

Though the ashram is composed of many teachers from both India and around the world with intermittent guest teachers active throughout the ashrams courses and programs, two core teachers remain at the ashram year round. These are Adam Cohen, Ph.D and Dr. Rudramma, MD.

Dr. Adam Cohen is a lifetime practitioner of spirituality who has been in India teaching yoga the past 6 years both at the ashram and in universities around India. He holds a PhD in Philosophy and Sacred Literature and is an assistant college professor of yoga and Hindu philosophy. Aside from these ‘on paper’ qualifications, Adam is someone who has committed his life to spiritual evolution and envisions each day as a day to move deeper into the essence of the integral universality of creation. Many of his teachings are reflected through his online database of classes at: studyofyoga.org.

Starting from his childhood, Adam has questioned the foundation of reality and existence. In his early teens he was curious about selfhood and studied Buddhist philosophy and Western Psychology in search of direction towards a more diverse and holistic understand of creation. By 17 he wanted to recreate his life through a spiritual design, and pursued a formal teacher training for yoga in the United States. After his exposure to yogic spirituality, Adam devoted his life to the pursuit of self-knowledge. Exposed to a large range of yogic practices, Adam integrates a variety technique and philosophy to guide students towards their spiritual nature.

Dr. Rudramma is a practitioner of both Western and Eastern Medicine and has study thoroughly through many technical and traditional schools of Medical Science. At an early age her mother would teach her various traditional methods of healing and curing. Whenever Rudramma was not in school she would stay at home passionately following the guidance of her mother as she taught her the many specialized skills associated with Ayurvedic cooking, medicinal herbal preparation, and natural healing.

After her university education in Western Medicine, Rudramma returned to the traditional systems she valued above all, and eventually received her formal training as a doctor of Ayurvedic medicine.

Aside from being a medical practitioner she is also a well recognized philosopher in Tamil Nadu and is currently working on the publication of a revitalizing text on the hidden traditions of Tantra in Southern India. Her comprehensive knowledge of many fields of thought makes her an invaluable resource for those wishing to learn more about traditional medicine, philosophy, and Indian traditions.
