Swami Tureyananda

Swami Tureyananda is a Rishi from South India who has been practicing yoga since he was a child in is home city Madurai. Initially interested in the powers of human mind and spirit, Swamiji was drawn towards the wisdom of his culture and traditions starting from a very early age. By the time swamiji reached his teenage years he was traveling throughout Southern India, seeking out various gurus in search of the true wisdom from India’s ancient philosophic beliefs and traditions.

Swamiji spent several years of his life traveling breadth and width of India, delving into the various yogic systems in search of the true spirit of yoga and the life of divinity. After several extensive pilgrimages throughout India, Swamiji received initiation into Rishihood and began his journey as a guru and teacher of spirituality.

Swami Tureyananda has devoted the vast majority of his life to the knowledge of spirituality, mastering the various arts of spiritual science from tantra yoga, jnana yoga, and other esoteric practices of India. With the heart of the people always in mind, Swamiji has always worked in service of the people. Whether disciple, friend, foe, or passer-by, swamiji has committed his life to helping others realize their true spiritual potential and divine selfhood.

Perhaps out of sync with the vast majority of yogic schools and spiritual centers, swamiji has given more emphasis to the individuals and less importance to himself and the institution. Self-realization, Swamiji believes, is the birthright and final transition for each and every human being. No one is limited from achieving cosmic wisdom and bliss in this lifetime; the only thing holding us back is our own self-doubts and disbeliefs. The vast majority of religions also mislead people into believing that spirituality is only meant for a select few, when in fact Divinity created all as equals. Why then should some be able to find self-realization while others remain stuck in bondage? The only thing that prevents us from realizing the Truth at this very moment is our confusion and social misleading. Let us rise up and realize our true nature.

Swami Tureyananda is not a public guru. You will not find him on TV, and you will not see him in your favorite magazine. He works to liberate the individuals who come to seek the spiritual path, and moves from the heart of his wisdom and spirit to share his experience and knowledge of spirituality with others. Whoever visits the ashram with the intention of finding spirituality and inner transformation is sure to find it, and no matter where you are in the world you will always know that you have a home with the Tureya Foundation in India. This is Swamiji’s philosophy and belief, to ensure that all who come in search of divinity find it, and always have the support of a family to continue their ventures towards divinity.

Today Swamiji lives and teaches at the Tureya Ashram in Kodaikanal, spreading the wealth of spirituality with students and disciples. All teachings are meant to cultivate spiritual awareness and joy and lead everyone towards their pure-self divine. Happiness, joy, bliss, knowledge, and health are a must! May you be blessed in the path you seek, and realize your true nature that permeates from your heart and spirit!
