Rishi Yoga Teacher Training

teacher trainingThe yoga teacher training program is designed to educate students with yoga philosophy and techniques which can be applied as teaching methodologies for group and individual yoga instruction. This program gives significant emphasis to the personal practice of the yoga teacher. This is because any teacher should teach based upon experience and not just acquired knowledge. It is also important for the teachers to have a deeper connection with their own personal spiritual practice as they will use this relationship to help guide others through spirituality. In addition, the teacher training program focuses on the theoretical understanding of the philosophy and science of yoga. It also examines the practical application of yoga philosophy and techniques that can be used for spiritual development for both the teacher and the students.

In contemporary society, many people are turning towards yoga as an alternative form of health care and wellness. Although the economy throughout the world has been impacted by financial loss and recession, yoga is in great demand today as more people pursue yoga as a means to relieving stress, anxiety, and tension. Aside from this, yoga also teaches us how to be joyful and find happiness within our lives regardless of the environment or the social condition. As more people venture towards yoga, a higher demand of experienced yoga teachers are needed in order to guide others in their practice of spirituality.

The yoga teacher training is not simply designed to produce teachers but rather to train teachers in the approach of yoga through the many facets of the Rishi tradition. In the teacher training we seek to guide students through a wide variety of yoga practices and techniques which can be applied in contemporary society. We do not limit the teacher training to only physical postures or asana; instead we train students in many aspects of yoga including Pranayama (breathing practice), meditation, Kriyas (cleansing techniques), dietary moderation, and yoga philosophy. Yoga is not complete without a full examination of the methods that are available for spiritual growth and genuine wellness. By discovering the many qualities of yoga, students who complete the yoga teacher training will have both an experience to teach upon and the living knowledge that can be applied to guide others.

The yoga teacher training can be completed by all levels of experience and is not limited to those who have been practicing yoga for many years. An emphasis is placed on the personal practice of the teacher and is considered to be the cornerstone of the learning process. Instead of teaching everyone as a mass group, we choose to teach students more individually in order to accommodate their unique personalities, qualities, and character traits. Every yoga practice is as unique as the yoga practitioner. With this truth in mind, we seek to train students based upon their uniqueness and creativity.

yoga teacher trainingAll graduates of the yoga teacher training program are uniquely qualified to create spiritual practices for individuals and groups with the deeper knowledge they have gained through their study and inquiry into the more subtle aspects of yoga. They possess the ability to assess students and clients to provide them with practices that are appropriate and can facilitate an integrated and balanced yogic lifestyle. Many of the graduates have gone on to teach in their foreign homelands, but there are also students who have taken the teacher training for personal growth and have found significant benefit through their practice and study at the ashram.
