Yoga Therapy Camps and Retreat
The Yoga Therapy Camps and Retreat at the ashram promoted an atmosphere for healing and transformation
Yoga Therapy is a discipline of spirituality designed to help sooth restless emotions, pacify troubled thoughts, and release tense muscles.
Yoga therapy is an approach to health and healing which is derived from the tradition of yoga. Yoga therapy works to apply yoga techniques and practices to help individuals facing physical and psychophysical health conditions. Yoga therapy can also be used to improve general health and well-being, and can be applied as preventative practices from future mental and physical disorders. Yoga therapy is a complementary or alternative treatment modality which is quickly gaining integrity in Western science as a credible form of healthcare.
Yoga therapy is a practice which can help individuals bridge the gap between their personal careers and their spiritual life. In yoga, lifestyle practices should compliment ones spiritual practices and beliefs. By pursuing the practice of yoga therapy, one is given the opportunity to practice spirituality on a continual basis and also help others by offering natural alternatives for health and wellness. Yoga therapy combines ancient yogic wisdom with contemporary therapeutic practices. This combination allows for yoga therapy to be an effective, sustainable, natural, and realistic practice for mental and physical healing.
Yoga therapy has been practiced in India for thousands of years. It is only recently, however, that it has become a discipline in and of itself. This is due to the fact that qualification is needed in order to apply yoga therapy in contemporary society. By specializing in yoga therapy, students gain professional knowledge as well as self-enveloped insight into human anatomy, physiology, naturopathy, and psychology, all of which helped them to become competent yoga therapists.
Yoga therapy is not an invasive practice, nor does it require medication or special machines. Rather, yoga therapy simply helps clients and individuals listen to their body and gain insight into the changes that are occurring within them. Through body wisdom, clients are able to perceive the underlying emotions or feelings which are often directly correlated to physical pains or strains within the body, gaining the power to control their bodies and their emotions. In yoga, we believe that knowing the body is the first step to understanding the path of healing and wellness. By receiving training in yoga therapy we are becoming qualified therapists who can help others in the process of self healing and transformation.
